Brian believes that to help our current undergraduates and future generations succeed, MSU needs to provide quality, affordable academic opportunities that prepare our students to be leaders in a global economy. This goal must balance conservative stewardship of taxpayer investments and the imperative of retaining and attracting the best faculty and staff in America. To accomplish this, Brian will:
  • Focus always on affordable tuition
  • Provide a wide-range of quality academic opportunities for students
  • Commitment to building Michigan State University’s research capabilities
  • Stay true to Michigan State’s Land Grant Mission of advancing knowledge and transforming lives
  • Never forget we must be good stewards of taxpayer invested dollars
Brian Breslin for MSU Trustee
Brian Breslin’s life is a partnership with Melinda, his wife. Together, they have put four children through college. Brian knows the the value of every tuition dollar. As a retired Senior Vice President with Michigan-based MEIJER and a former board member of the Michigan Chamber of Commerce, Brian has the experienced based know-how to work with creative teams, committee processes, and large institutional organizations. Brian offers his experience for public service:
  • Melinda’s husband of 36 yrs, father of four, with eight grandchildren
  • Graduate of Michigan State University, Bachelor of Science in Food Systems & Economic Management
  • Michigan State University Mens Basketball team; 3 varsity letters
  • Senior Vice President for MEIJER, retired
  • Michigan Chamber of Commerce, former board member
  • Michigan Grocers Association, past Chairman
  • Forest Akers Trust Fund, Trustee
  • Numerous other industry boards and committees
